And if you don't currently belong to a team, there is a "mercenary" board on the REGISTER TO PLAY page of this site where you can offer up your services to teams who need additional players, or link up with other individuals looking to form a team.
And it's okay if you don't have vintage equipment.
You can acquire a custom-made 19th century uniform, glove, handturned bats, balls, and more with your registration package.

As autumn rolls around each year, pennant races heat up, playoff fever is in the air. But Major Leaguers aren't the only ones vying for a championship... as the Fall Classic nears, an historic version of World Series also takes place: THE VINTAGE WORLD SERIES.
Teams from all over the country come together in an Open Tournament fasion to duke it out, 19th century style -- using all of the rules, equipment, uniforms, traditions, and sportsmanship of our national pastime just as it was played over 125 years ago.
The victors are crowned Vintage World Series Champions and hoist the DEACON WHITE TROPHY, named in honor of the Hall of Fame catcher who was one of the premier stars of the first two decades of professional baseball (1871-1890), winning 5 consecutive championships with the Boston Red Stockings and Chicago White Stockings. And he accomplished all of that, leading the National Association (the predicesor of today's N.L. which became the first fully recognized "major league" in 1876) in both offensive and defensive statistics, while catching barehanded!
The VWS gives baseball enthusiasts an opportunity to try out vintage base ball (yes, it was originally written as two words), to step into the pages of history, and to experience as a player what the game was like during its inaugural years. All while having the chance to win a world championship.
